DEVOTIONAL: Something Beautiful from the Pain

DEVOTIONAL: Something Beautiful from the Pain

Something Beautiful from the Pain

As we all know, our lives are not always easy, not always the happiest.  Sometimes life just hurts and at times it can be tough. Our lives have been nothing short of painful, and uncertain the past few years.  The pain that we have experienced watching our precious Addi go through this unthinkable journey with cancer has brought me to my knees more times than I can count.  When I think about this journey with all of its uncertainty, I remember that the darkness will not stay forever.  I don’t really think about the painful part of this journey.  I think about the beauty that God has brought to our lives.  It was hard to see it then but oh how I thank God that I can see it now.  I will tell you it has been the most difficult two years of my life but the pain has taught me some of the most wonderful lessons about life, God and people and it has brought me to a new place in my relationship with God.  The beauty God has brought to our lives is truly indescribable.

Are you going through a painful situation right now?  If you are, take courage because God is greater than any situation we face and know that God brought you to it and He will bring you through it to a new place of beauty.  Sometimes it is not like we expect but remember He is there, and His plan is perfect.  In the most difficult of times when the pain is overwhelming, it is then that God wants us to trust Him the most and have faith in His plan.  Whisper a prayer to God and ask Him to help you see what He is birthing through the painful circumstances of your life.  In Isaiah 66:9 the Bible tells us this truth, “I will not cause pain without allowing something new to be born.” Says the Lord.  That promise should keep your hope alive.  You have to come to a place that you know God is working in ways that you cannot see and that the pain that you are experiencing is nothing compared to the beauty He is going to bring.  Keep the faith and know that God is not going to waste this painful circumstance you are going through.

Life is not always going to be happy; it won’t always be easy and quite frankly sometimes it’s just unfair.  In those times we wonder where God could be in it all and why would He allow such suffering and pain.  Job lost everything but yet he knew that without God, he was nothing.  Even when we don’t understand and the pain is more than we can comprehend, we must know that God is there….yes, He is with us in those times and He will never leave us.  We have to look past the pain, past the hurt, past the tragedy to see all the beauty and how God is working in your situation.  I know that is hard when you are going through it but rest assured, God will not let us stay in the pain and sorrow.  He will restore us, heal those wounds and will bring us to a new place with Him as He pushes us forward so that He can bring forth new beauty in our lives.

Prayer of Bringing Beauty from Pain:

Dear Heavenly Father I come to you today and I ask you to show me the beauty past this painful situation that I am in.  God I ask you to give me peace in the face of this difficulty, bring abiding joy that can’t be explained and wrap your comforting arms around me right now and assure me that you are still the God of miracles and that you are fighting for me today.  Help me to see past the pain of my circumstances so that I can see that there is still beauty ahead even through this pain and even after devastation and tragedy.  God I know that you will not waste this pain and that through this you will be glorified.  In Jesus name I pray…Amen!

Bible Verses

John 16:33 “In this world you will have trouble, but take courage, for I have overcome the world.”

Psalms 46:1-3 “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore, we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.

Romans 15:13 “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”

  1. Leanne, I think I fell into this post today because I'm not always on here thru the day,my family has been dealing with our brothers fight with sirohsis and cancer of the liver and I pray that he gets on the list for a transplant, but I think only God works his miracles for us and we can only pray that he knows what is best,I think that's all we can do is PRAY !!!!
