DEVOTIONAL: You are Worthy

DEVOTIONAL: You are Worthy

You are Worthy

There are many people today that feel that they have something to prove in order to be worthy.  Worthy to God and worthy to others.  Some feel that they must be accomplished in their job, earn more money, be prettier, the best mom/wife or be perfect in order to be worthy and feel accomplished.  Others are trying to prove their worth because of the mistakes they have made in the past thus making them feel guilt and shame.

Guess what friend?  You are worthy just as you are.  You have nothing to prove to God and He accepts you just as you are.  I am worthy to God if I am wealthy or poor, have a job or if I am homeless, if I am an addict or if I have never touched a drug.  What the world thinks of you doesn’t matter.  You have nothing to prove because you are created in God’s image.  His word says, “I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are your works, and that my soul knows very well.”  You are wonderfully made by the Creator.  If you come to Him with repentance, accept Him, ask for forgiveness and then leave all of those things that have caused you to feel unworthy at the cross, that is when the guilt and shame is gone and you feel your worth in Jesus.

I want you to think of your worth like a priceless piece of art.  Have you ever looked at a painting and thought, how is that art worth so much money?  Well, it’s worth is not really based on the art itself and what it looks like, the worth is based on WHO made that piece of art.  We are His masterpiece, a work of art, designed in His image.  If you remember that you are His masterpiece; you will then understand that people, your job, how good you are does not determine your worth.  Just like that art, your worth is determined by WHO made you.  God formed you in His image and if He formed you in His image then there is nothing you have to do in order to be worthy but accept Him as your Savior, repent and follow Him.

If you are feeling worthless because of your past or something someone did or said to you, I want you to remember that your worth is not established by people or things, your worth is established through the Almighty King and He says you are enough, you are worthy and you are a priceless piece of art!  When your Creator looks at you, He sees your heart, He sees the real you and He sees a Masterpiece created in His image.  There is no where He wouldn’t go for you and you are never too far from His reach.  No matter how dark it may feel and no matter what you may have done, He will always be there to reach out His hand to find you because YOU ARE WORTHY!

Prayer of Feeling Unworthy:

Dear Heavenly Father, I am struggling today to believe that I am worthy and valued.  I ask you to help me understand that my worth comes from you and you alone.  Allow me to lay all that has caused me to feel unworthy at your feet and never look back.  Help me to understand that my worth is not based on how much money I make, what others say or how accomplished in life I may be but that to you I am valued, I am loved, and I am worthy.  Continue to remind me daily of my worth through you dear Lord so that I may live out my life knowing I am worthy just because you created me.

Bible verses about being Worthy

I Peter 2:9 “But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.”

Ephesians 2:10 “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”

Genesis 1:27 “So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.”

  1. I so appreciate these Devotionals, Lala. I deal with depression and it seems to just get tougher every day. I thank you for giving so much of yourself, and I want you to know that I keep Addi and all of her family in my prayers daily. God bless you all, and please, say safe!
