DEVOTIONAL – Sometimes Miracles come in Unanswered Prayers
DEVOTIONAL: Miracles are Sometimes Unanswered Prayers
I have been thinking a lot about miracles lately. I guess because I have witnessed a true miracle in my precious girls’ life. Only a miracle working God could have brought forth the miracle we witnessed in her life. It was not all at once, but God answered through prayer, the knowledge of doctors, and through faith. I have also thought about the miracles I have prayed for that did not come to fruition as I wanted. Take my sister for instance. She was 28 years old and in a one car auto accident almost 7 years ago. I sat by her bedside for 9 days praying for God to save and heal her. Then on that 9thday she went to be the Lord. For a long time, I was angry with God for not giving our family the miracle we had prayed for but as I opened my heart, God showed me Christa did receive her miracle. I don’t understand why she had to die so young, but I do know she received her miracle in heaven with a healed, renewed body as she spends eternity with God. I know she received her miracle because she was a Christian. This is when I really began to realize that miracles sometimes come in unanswered prayers.
Have you been praying for a miracle in a relationship, finances, illness or something else in your life? Have you been met with silence or has God answered in a way you were not expecting? I know that God loves us, and I know that God works all things together for our good, but sometimes what we feel is “good” may not coincide with God’s “good” for us. Because Gods ways are far greater than our own, we have to trust Him when those miracles are not given in our lives as we prayed. You have to submit to His plan and know that there is a purpose even when it involves pain. You may not can see it now but one day you will.
Sometimes we sit heartbroken because of God’s silence or because our miracle did not come the way we prayed. You have to remember that financial difficulties, broken relationships, illness and yes, even death can never separate us from the love of God. Just because He did not give us the miracle in the way we prayed, does not mean He does not love us. It just means our plans and Gods plans are not the same. We have to choose to take God at His word and know that He cares about us no matter what the circumstances may be.
Seek ye first the kingdom of God and all of these things will be added unto you. So, what I get from that is we should seek God Himself instead of just the miracles we want him to bring into our lives. Then we have to ask God…Not my will but yours be done Lord and trust Him with the outcome. We have to begin to ask God for strength to accept His will over our own and choose to live by faith. His good does not always mean our circumstances are going to turn out the way we WANT!
You really have to pursue peace so that God can give you understanding even when bad things happen, and the miracle doesn’t come how you prayed. We have to realize that silence and unanswered miracles does not mean God is absent in our lives. Gods’ wisdom is beyond our human understanding and sometimes we have to accept the valuable lessons God may be trying to teach us through suffering which will ultimately lead us to greater JOY and peace. He says in His word that He will never leave us nor forsake us, so we have to stop depending on the outward things we want in life and ask God to help us live more by faith and to seek His will. Ask him to reassure you every day of His presence in your circumstances and trust that sometimes miracles come in unanswered prayers.
Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father I come to you today and I ask that you work miracles in my life as I submit my life, my heart and my will to you. I long for your will in my life and not my own. Help me to accept whatever the outcome may be so that I may live wholly in your presence and your will. You know my heart; you understand my pain and I ask you to give me peace no matter what the outcome may be. Help me to accept that my miracle may come as an unanswered prayer and bring joy to my life as I trust you are with me and for me, always. In Jesus name I pray….Amen!
