DEVOTIONAL: PERSPECTIVE BRINGS AN ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE

DEVOTIONAL:  PERSPECTIVE BRINGS AN ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE

Definition of perspective is a particular attitude toward or the capacity to view things in their true importance.  Looking at perspective in all aspects of life will bring the needed space between the issue at hand and the problems you are facing.  If you will look through the eyes of perspective in every situation, it will bring forth a heart of gratitude in a much deeper way.

Think about perspective like this……While we are upset because our kids made a mess in their rooms, a mother is grieving and longs to see her child’s mess instead of a gravestone. While we are complaining about social distancing and isolation, a person who is battling an illness for weeks in the hospital is wishing they could just go home.  While we are angry because the power went off during a bad storm, the man living under the bridge just longs for a warm roof over his head. While parents are grumbling because of the nights they are awake with a screaming baby, the mom that is infertile and has been trying to have a child, would trade places in a moment.  While you are complaining about your job, the lady down the street just lost her job and doesn’t know how she will pay her bills.  Gratitude must become our attitude in order to see perspective in our own lives even in the difficult circumstances we face.

Perspective will enable you to cope with the problems you are facing when you change HOW you see the problem instead of what you are dealing with.  Unfortunately, bad things happen to good people every day but when bad things happen, God can bring good out of any situation. Those things may skew our perspective, but we are called each and every day to live the life that we have been given in a way that God will be glorified through our life, our actions and our attitude.  It is easy to have a bad attitude in difficulty, but we have so much more to be thankful for than we even realize.

As difficult as our lives have been, as much as Addi has endured, as much as we have sacrificed and the problems we have faced, we look at life with a new perspective and with gratitude…..Addi is alive, she is happy, and she is loved. There are parents who buried their child today, there is a child that relapsed this week, there is a family sitting by their child’s bed waiting on him to take his last breath…..perspective!

When we are facing less than desirable circumstances and our prayers don’t seem to be answered in the way we are asking, maybe we should look at changing how we are praying.  Instead of praying for a way out, maybe we can change our perspective about the situation we are in.  God can then work through our difficulty and struggles to give us the strength we need and to bring Glory to Him!  The way in which we perceive our situation can often have a greater impact on our life than the situation we are facing itself.  If you will get focused on God’s perspective regarding your situation, then you will realize you have so much to be grateful for and your attitude will change, your situation will change and how you respond to your circumstances will change!

Change your perspective and it will change your life because your life will then be led by an attitude of gratitude.  Perspective can push you forward in life with gratitude and the life God meant for you to live or your perspective can hinder you and keep you bound and defeated.  Maybe you need a perspective change in your life so HE can change you from the inside out!

Prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father I come to you today and I ask you to change my perspective.  Change my perspective so that my attitude can be one of gratitude.  Even in the difficulties I am facing, I still have so much to be grateful for and I thank you for the life you have given me.  Today I ask you to change me from the inside-out and help me focus on how I can glorify You Lord and less on me.  Help me Lord to see the beauty in the midst of my difficulties and change my attitude to gratitude.  In Jesus Name I pray….Amen!
