Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions……..
I am getting hundreds of emails and a lot of those are the same questions and/or comments.  I am sorry but I just do not have time to answer hundreds of emails right now so I thought I would post here and answer some of those so you don’t think I am ignoring you.

The most frequently asked question…..How is Addi?…..I know that everyone anxiously awaits an update especially right now that she is so sick.  I cannot even begin to tell you all that goes into our day.  Many doctors coming and going (she has 5 different specialist groups that visit daily), tests throughout the day, therapy, daily bathing and personal care amongst many other things throughout the day.  It is exhausting for Addi and for me.  I give you my word that as soon as things settle down and I get a grasp on exactly how Addi is doing, I will post by 6:00-8:00 pm everyday.  I truly appreciate you loving my sweet Addi and wanting to know that she is ok.  It truly blesses us that she is so loved by so many!!!  I will faithfully keep you posted because I know how loved she is!

The second most frequently asked is about CBD oil…..
We do give Addi CBD oil when we are home.  Right now Addi is not in the hospital for cancer related issues.  It is a result of a complication from cancer treatment but not the cancer itself.  Although there are reports that the CBD helps symptoms of cancer and may even help prevent the growth, Addi’s issues right now are not her cancer.  Of course I have discussed this with her doctors but it is not prevalent right now.  Addi is in liver failure and because her liver is not filtering like it should, the CBD oil could be more harmful than good.  Addi also has fluid overload and every bit of fluid going in and out is being measured precisely and is part of her everyday care plan.  Putting more fluid into her body would not allow them to give her vital medicines and fluids that she now needs for the liver failure she is in and for her survival.  It is a very fine balance they are working with regarding her fluids especially with her swelling and possibility of respiratory distress again.  I appreciate all of the CBD information and asking if she is taking it but right now it is not feasible but once we are home we will begin that regimen again.  As far as THC….no, she is not taking it at this time.

As far as talking to Amy Largent regarding what she gives Julia….Yes, we have spoken on several occasions.  Right now, as I stated, we just can’t give Addi any extra fluid and the amount of CBD oil needed to be effective could be detrimental to Addi, not help her.

Donation of Blood, Platelets and organs……I have asked the hospital about direct donations of blood and platelets for Addi. They have stated it is just best to ask people to donate so that there is never a shortage but that it is not 100% that Addi would ever get blood or platelets that are designated for her and that it can make things a little complicated.  So I ask you…PLEASE donate because without the people who have donated Addi would not be here.  She is requiring a large amount of blood products.  As far as liver or kidney….Addi is not in need of a kidney right now.  Her one kidney is working as of now and when she was going into failure all they talked about was dialysis.  As far as liver….as we know you can’t live without your liver and they are not stating that they need a portion of a liver for her either. I have been told that Addi would not be eligible for a transplant but we are not to that stage.  I cannot tell you how much it touches me every time I get a message from someone offering such a selfless act.  Addi is so loved

St. Jude’ Hospital…..Addi has some of the best doctors in the nation.  They are cutting edge on all cancer treatments and as far as treating Neuroblastoma, they are probably the best.  They follow the national protocol that has been effective and saved many children.  I know St. Judes is an amazing hospital but we feel confident we are right where we need to be and have actually been told that St. Jude would not do much different than what is being done now except maybe some trial studies that really haven’t been proven to work.

Visitors…..right now Addi cannot have visitors except for immediate family and of course medical team.  She is critically ill and just can’t afford to have anyone bring in any type of sickness to her.  We appreciate that so many want to meet Addi and bring her gifts but right now she is just too sick and she really needs her rest.  I read Addi all of your cards and she loves that.  People have even sent pictures and we have a scrapbook we are keeping them in so please send a card and a picture and we will add you to our scrapbook until she can have visitors.  Many are asking what hospital she is in.  I am not sure if that is because they want to visit or send cards.  Please send cards to the PO Box.  My daughter checks it several times a week.  It is really hard living in a hospital but one day I hope to have a huge event and invite all of Addi’s new Facebook friends.  We will all celebrate when she is cancer free!!!

About Addi questions……Addi will be 3 on May 26.  Her favorite color is pink/purple.  She love animals, playing outside, riding on her riding toys, playing with Milo and basically anything that a typical 2 year old loves.  Especially anything she can do using her hands.  She is highly intelligent so we do learning games with her often.  Addi is so blessed and at this time really does not need any toys but if you really want to do something for her, a card would be great.  If you just really want to do more than a card, I suggest just a gift card and when she wants or needs something I could take her and let her pick it out herself.  So many just want to bless Addi and make her feel special and we really appreciate that so much.  I don’t know many children as blessed as Addi to be loved like she is!  You all are amazing and we are so grateful for the outpouring of love on our sweet Addi!

Personal information…..Please remember that what we post is what we would like the public to know.  I respectfully ask that you not ask me personal questions as much of it cannot and will not be discussed.  I do not mean this in a rude manner whatsoever but there are some things that just must be kept private.  Much of our family dynamics and HOW Addi was diagnosed is in this blog post:  https://addisjourney.com/2019/01/addis-journey-welcome-to-addis-journey.html

God has blessed us during this journey with many generous people.  We are not asking anyone for money.  We have not and will not.  We had a friend that started this Go Fund Me for us and we are so appreciative. It has allowed me to be out of work and with Addi every step of the way and helped with expenses so much but for those who are asking how to donate this is the only means of donating:  https://www.gofundme.com/prj5wqf8
This is the ONLY Go Fund Me for Addi.  Any others are not approved by the family.

Ok, I think that is all for tonight.  We get many other questions but I am just so exhausted and ready to get some sleep.  As I tell you in every post….THANK YOU for the outpouring of love, prayers and support for our sweet Addi and our family.  I know I have said it a hundred times but I can’t say it enough….we love and appreciate you all so much.  Your prayers have sustained us and have kept Addi fighting!!!

  1. Thank you for taking time out to write this for us. We pray do get some rest tonight and that Addi will be better in the morning. You are such an awesome person and we thank God Addi has your family to be there all the time.We have grown to love that sweet baby and choose to believe her healing is coming soon.

  2. Dear LaLa,
I totally understand why Addi can't have visitors. However if I undersood correctly you pretty much say with Addi 24/7. I know that Addi has every thing her sweet little heart desires and more too. NOW let's talk about you. Because you basically are living at the hospital I have to think that there is something that you need, or would like to have or just pure and simply want. Please think about this question for a minute. What would you like to have other than Addi getting her miracle and being cancer free? Maybe a basket of snacks and drinks to keep with you. Maybe a home cooked meal, you probobly haven't had that in a long time. Just something to make you feel better. I could meet your daughter on her way to hospital and her bring what ever you choose. Oh something else that might be helpful to you is coins for vending machines and such. Please think hard and tell me something to do for you. I know it's ruff on you maybe worse than addi. Please let me know.

  3. Thank you for the information you shared. I pray you are resting and taking care of yourself. As you have said prayers are going up everywhere. I know Addi is loved and she is a precious gift from God. I pray for your inner peace, comfort, and knowledge knowing that you and your family are taking care of Addi. Please give sweet Addi a hug for me. Thank you, Lonette.

  4. It would be such a privilege to be able to help you in any way and I personally think this is a wonderful way to do that. My heart aches for your family but especially for Addi! Storming heaven with prayers for this lil warrior!🙏🙏

  5. It is really hard for me to tell things I need or want because it is just not in my nature. I am the one that takes care of everyone but I will try. My husband purchased me a cooler so I can keep drinks and sandwich stuff in the room. Snacks are always nice. We have some friends that have also given us UberEats gift cards so we can order food and have it delivered here to the hospital from local restaurants. That was amazing and very appreciated. I cannot even go to the cafe anymore I am so sick of the food. LOL! If that is something you would like to do they can be purchased online and emailed to addisjourney1@gmail.com
Thank you for caring and thinking of us! LaLa

  6. Leanne, thank you for consistently updating us when you have so much on your plate. We know it's a sacrifice of the precious time that you so faithfully give to all of us who have come to love not only Addi, but all of you. We continue to stand with you, walk this hard journey with you, and unceasingly lift all of you to our Lord Jesus. Prayers for a good day. Much love.

  7. Thank you LaLa for sharing all this. Bless your heart, you are a saint! Continued prayers for a miracle for our little warrior. It really amazes me how she takes all this going on with her and to her like such a big girl. She is definately a very blessed and special girl that God is using to bring people to their knees in prayer and one day very soon He will show His power to the world through a miracle!! ADDI WILL BE HEALED !! In JESUS name I believe ! I love you Addi and LaLa and all your family! God bless you all!!

  8. I’m so thankful that Addi is blessed with your loving family and great doctors. Second only to Addi’s need for a miracle in her life is the need to have her LaLa with her! GoFundMe gifting enables that! I wish I could give more, so I’m sharing Addi’s story and encouraging others to keep giving! Addi needs her family more than more toys! It takes gas to get there and food away from home. Gift cards for gas, UberEats, Visa gift cards can be used most anywhere! Please folks, help enable LaLa, Warren, and Alexis to be with Addi. ❤️

  9. Thank you for this update. You should not worry about pleasing all of us, but I do appreciate and look forward to Addis daily condition updates. As the others around the world, I have fallen in love with this special little lady, and with your family. LaLa, Addi is so blessed to have you by her side. I think a lot about something you said, and it really moved me; you said “you prefer staying at the hospital 24/7, not only because Addi has been so critical, but that when you go back home your heart breaks to see her things around the house.” Your strength, love, faith, and courage is inspiring to me. Take care of yourself too. You are in my daily thoughts and prayers too.

  10. This is the most powerful healing prayer that I have ever prayed. It helps all in some way that pray it sincerely and believe. I pray it daily for all :

HEALING PRAYER by Fr. Larry J. Hess

HEAVENLY FATHER I call on you now in a special way. It is through your power that I was created. Every breath I take / every morning I wake / and every moment of every hour / I live under your power. Father I ask you now to touch me with that same power. For if you created me from nothing / you can certainly recreate me. Fill me with the healing power of your spirit. Cast out anything that should not be in me. Mend what is broken. Root out any unproductive cells. Open any blocked arteries or veins and rebuild any damaged areas. Remove all inflammation and cleanse any infection.

Let the warmth of you healing love pass through my body to make new any unhealthy areas so that my body will function the way you created it to function.

And Father / restore me to full health in mind and body so that I may serve you the rest of my life.

I ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

  11. LaLa, I wanted to ask if I could share a link with you to post on the page to my ThirtyOne party I am doing for Addi. ALL commission will be donated to you via the go fund me page or if there’s another way I can send it to you.

Love you both so much..Praying for that miracle.. in time it will happen.. good nite praying for a better tomorrow 🙏🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️

  14. CBD oil does not take treat the cancer. THC oil on the other hand does. the THC can help the liver function properly again. CBD is good for inflammation and or therapeutic response only. THC is what causes apoptosis. I would look into THC oil a little bit more…prayers for addi!!
