DEVOTIONAL: Trust – God is teaching you to swim!

Trust – God is teaching you to swim!

Sometimes in the midst of difficulty when you are in a dark place it is hard to really see what God is doing. It’s hard at times to imagine that there could be something good that’s coming from our struggle and pain. It’s hard to imagine that this situation, this tragedy, this illness, this heartbreak could really be part of His plan. God has shown me something very real in all that we’ve been through. He has shown me to stop fearing what I cannot control, to stop obsessing over things that I cannot fix and to not be anxious for what the future may hold but instead have faith and trust that He is in control and that His plan and will is going to be fulfilled regardless of my doubt and worry. He’s shown me that no matter what the outcome, everything is going to be ok and that God is working out His plan right in front of me even when I cannot see it. He has taught me to trust and obey and be at peace because He is with me always. Just remember, you aren’t drowning, God is just teaching you to swim.

He is teaching you to swim as you wade in the waters for him to rescue you but first you must trust Him and cry out to Him as He rescues you from the waters that try to drown you. Sometimes I think God lets us get to the point where our head is barely treading above water so all we can do is look up and cry out for help! Sometimes our own decisions in life gets us to that point of drowning but God is always right there to rescue us even from ourselves if we only trust Him to do so. If you are like me, you think well if it’s going to get done, I will do it myself. Sometimes that is how we are with God. We think I am going to do it my way because if it’s going to get done….I have to do it my way. That isn’t trusting God. Sometimes, we have to sit back, pray and believe that God is going to work out all things for our good, even when it may not be the way WE would have done it. His way, His will…not ours…that is trusting Him with your life!

God wants us to put Him first in our lives and with confidence and trust give it all to him……every day and in everything we do. When we decide to go outside of what we want, think and feel but instead do what God’s word tells us to do we come to a place where God will bring an abundance of His peace, His Joy and His righteousness.

Life can be difficult at times, but we can live it with peace when we just come to God. You have to come to a place with God that you cry out and say…..l do not want to do this life on my own, I want to trust you God with my life. I do not know what to do with my circumstances, but I will trust you God. I do not understand why this is happening, but I am going to trust in you God. I am going to do my part by obeying and I will trust you to do the REST!

What can you do to eliminate the doubt and worry in your own life?

TRUST – Put your worry and doubts in God’s hands and trust Him with every aspect of your life.

Bible verses to quote about trusting God:

Psalms 91:2
I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in Him will I trust

Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he will direct thy paths

Psalms 28:7
The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped; therefore, my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.

Prayer: God I lay my worries, doubts, troubles and my life before you. I ask you to help me know that you are with me always, even in the difficult times. Please help me to trust you more and have faith that your way is far better than my own. Even when my prayers are not answered, help me to submit to your will and plan for my life. Help me to obey and trust you fully in all aspects of my life. Amen.
