DEVOTIONAL: ENDURE TO THE END
In the world we are living in, it is probably safe to say there are days you feel like you can’t take one step in front of the other because the trials of life are weighing you down. Some days your endurance to make it through the day much less a difficulty you may be facing, seems nearly impossible. So many times, I have had to remind myself to face my same difficulties as if I were an athlete. Have you ever been in a race or played a sport? It takes much physical endurance to stay strong enough to endure to the end of the race. Those athletes have trained, they have spent countless hours in practice, and they have built their endurance to begin and finish whatever sport they may be competing in. Many times, in a football game, it isn’t the beginning, or the middle but it is the last few yards that count. That is right, those last few yards are the most difficult but those are the yards that count the most and it took much endurance to get to those final yards. Much like the trials we face…..it’s the end and how we finish that count the most. In order to face these difficulties, we must train spiritually to endure…..
Our spiritual endurance is crucial, and because we are human, endurance requires much grace. No one has endured more than Jesus and He endured all the way to the cross for us! If you want to endure, it begins when you know exactly who you are in Christ! Physical obstacles become easier to overcome when your body is strong. Well, our obstacles and difficulties are much the same and are easier to overcome when we are spiritually strong. How do you become spiritually strong so that you can endure the trials and difficulties in life? By fixing your eyes on Christ who is focused on winning the victory FOR you. His endurance is filled with grace, mercy, faith, hope and HE is able to see you through to the end as you fix your eyes on Jesus and ponder his grace as you endure.
You have to run the race with grace, you have to grow stronger in faith, you have to be committed to face each difficulty with patience and wait on God. You can do that because even in the most difficult times, He will be with you and He will never fail you. God never said that life would be easy. He never said that we would not go through difficult times but what He did say is if we will endure to the end….He will be with us no matter what life throws our way. He tells us over and over that he cannot and will not fail us if we only rest in His love and trust Him each step of the way.
How many of our prayers have gone unanswered because we prayed but did not endure to the end? We gave up, we threw in the towel, we thought it was too late, so what did we do? We acted for ourselves and did not wait on God because we felt that He was not going to act for us. Remember His words: “He who endures to the end will be saved” (Matthew 10:22b NKJV).
Can you endure to the end? If so, He will be with you, he will help you to endure with courage, patience, faith, love and yes, even joy. God hears your prayers; He has seen your tears and just remember that not one of those cries have gone unheard. God is indeed with you to help you endure. We must continue to live out our lives as He has said in His word and we must follow every detail as He has instructed us to do. As you obey all that He says, victory will be yours spiritually, mentally, and physically. Wait in silence awhile, conscious of HIS presence while you ENDURE!
Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father I come to you today and I ask you to help me endure during this difficult time in my life. I am going through many difficulties and it is so hard to be patient and endure to the end. Help me to be patient as I wait on you during this time. Help me to stop trying to do this on my own. I am weary and don’t know when this race will end in my life but help me be patient and not try to outrun the pain and difficulty I have been enduring but yet run with endurance the race with you as you guide me every step of the way. I feel like I have been running this race for a long time and I need to feel your presence. Help me to run with endurance and let me see a victory over these trials. Give me strength and peace and thank you for loving me when I doubt you. Help me to endure the race before me. In Jesus name I pray…Amen!
