CHEMO, DAY ONE
CHEMO, DAY ONE……
Well, day one of chemo is complete. We started out having a great day and I thought we would get through the day without sickness or any side effects and then a couple of hours ago the vomiting started. Vomiting startles her and she does not understand what is going on. I HATE when she gets sick like this. I can see the fear in her eyes and it is awful. I told the nurse about 30 minutes earlier I felt like she may need some nausea medicine because she started this cough thing she does before getting sick. She had just started the nausea medicine IV when it hit. I know her so well and knew it was going to happen and I so wish I had asked for it sooner. Oh well, it is over, nausea meds are on board and she is resting nicely again. Was just hoping for a really good first day because the next few are going to be tough.
The rest of the night will be nice and quiet and we will get rested up for a long, busy day tomorrow. They will start chemo in the morning and then get her ready and prepped for the Immunotherapy to start in the afternoon. She will be put on a Morphine pump tomorrow and that will start about an hour before the Immunotherapy begins. She is monitored very closely and is on heart monitors, O2 monitor and BP monitor around the clock as soon as it begins. I am so thankful they watch her so closely. This stuff is pretty serious business but they know what to do in the event of any complications. The respiratory therapist has already been in and listened to her lungs and they are all clear but they are ready if she needs oxygen or breathing treatments again like she did last time. She had some congestion and cough last time and she doesn’t this time so I am hopeful that she will not have as many respiratory issues as she did last time. Her nurse practitioner who has been with us since day one was talking about how good she looked. It just amazes me how she bounces back so quickly. She is one tough cookie. Takes after her great-grandmother, Sara whose 97th heavenly birthday is today. I know her and my sister Christa are up there praying for Addi and giving her the strength she needs to get through this!
A huge shout out to my sister in law, Grey also know as Aunt Gway to Addi. She drove to Atlanta this morning to be with us and to help me with Addi. You just don’t know how hard it is until you do it. We check in at the Day Hospital and that is where everything gets started. It is a long day because we are there for hours getting prepped and waiting on a room. The biggest thing during that time is entertaining the little girl! She is not the most patient little one at times. What two year old is, right?Grey as always was right there at her beck and call and played whatever she wanted. It was nice to sit over in the recliner and chill for a few hours. Thank you Grey for everything and all the goodies you left for me. You just don’t know how much I appreciate you thinking of me! Me and Addi love you bunches!
The clowns are amazing and Addi loves when they visit. Bubbles and singing….who wouldn’t love it! This is a video of the clowns blowing bubbles with her and singing (what an awesome job to have!)….that laugh is the sweetest sound ever!
Another t-shirt campaign started. It will end on 2/22 and shirts will ship on 3/4.
