DEVOTIONAL: Find the Blessings
FIND THE BLESSINGS
Have you ever been going through a storm and just felt like your world was shattered? Have you ever wondered if the blessings of God would ever flow again in your life? If you said yes, let me share something about finding the blessings even in the small aspects of this life. I remember sitting in a small, cold little room watching Addi fight for her sweet life and although it was the hardest time of our lives, I could not help but feel blessed. Sometimes I would look around and feel defeated but then God would remind me of all that I had to be thankful for and He reminded me of the blessings that were flowing in my life and yes, even in Addi’s life. Many times I found blessings in a hug from a stranger who could see I needed one or when my daughter drove 6 hours to sit with me in the hospital so I would not be alone. Other times it was the thousands of prayers being said for my precious girl and the kind words that were said. Other times it was just the simple fact that God had blessed us with another day with Addi here on earth.
I know it is hard to see blessings when life is difficult and when we are going through trials but if we FIND the blessings even in the storm, our entire outlook changes, our heart is softened and it allows us to see God in His infinite glory as He blesses us in those small aspects that change how we see life and how we see people. Sometimes we are so focused on the chaos, the trial, the devastation, the heartache of life that many of the blessings God is sending to us, we fail to recognize…. Instead try to focus on the blessing and be grateful for each one. Because we fail to recognize those blessings we do not experience the fullness of Gods love and what He has for us each and every day.
If you will just take a moment to stop and pause and think about your life, you will recognize that God fills it with blessings both small and large. Sometimes those small blessings go unnoticed because we are expecting larger ones. Let’s use this season of our lives to find the blessings of salvation that will make each small blessing we find in life so much easier to see. If you are saying, I just can’t find the blessings in life right now…..I challenge you to stop and take a moment to see the bigger picture because we can find those small blessings in each morning that we wake and are able to take another breath, each meal that we are blessed to eat, every hug we are honored to give, every prayer we are able to say and every day we are here to love the people God has put in our lives. Just remember to find those blessings and cherish them. When we come to this realization, we will understand that the small blessings in life are really the greatest blessings of all!
Prayer of Blessings:
Dear Heavenly Father I come to you today and I ask you to help me find the blessings in all aspects of my life. I will admit that sometimes I feel that I am not blessed but I fail to see the small blessings of life that surround me everyday. Help me to see these blessings so that I can appreciate them more and realize that the small blessings are true gifts. I thank you for all the blessings you have bestowed upon my life and I ask you to bless me with peace, joy, love and happiness most of all and fill my life abundantly with your presence. God I ask you to help me to see what others need and be a blessing in their lives. In Jesus name I pray….Amen!
Bible Verses:
James 1:17
“ Every good gift, every perfect gift, comes from above. These gifts come down from the Father, the creator of the heavenly lights, in whose character there is no change at all.”.
2 Corinthians 9:6
“But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.”
Jeremiah 17:7-8
“Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, And whose hope is the LORD. For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, Which spreads out its roots by the river, And will not fear when heat comes; But its leaf will be green, And will not be anxious in the year of drought, Nor will cease from yielding fruit.”
Psalms 34:8
“Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!”
