Busy Week for Addi
Busy Week for Addi…..
It has been a long, busy week for our Addi girl. She was put to sleep twice this week and it is the most nerve racking thing ever. The doctor lets me hold her until she is asleep (which is within seconds) and oh my does it kill my heart. One minute she is crying, the next minute she is out. She had her MRI on Wednesday and full body scan yesterday. They had a little trouble getting her to sleep yesterday. She was so groggy and just kept crying and saying….LaLa, LaLa and it truly broke my heart. Of course she did great and I worried for nothing. Now we wait for results. They are looking at where her kidney was (the spot of initial cancer) to see if there is any residual tumor that was left behind that they will radiate. Also checking the cancer that has metastasized to other parts of her body to see if the chemo is working and shrinking it and of course to see if the cancer has spread anywhere else. We are claiming cancer free! I am waiting to hear the word miracle from her doctor and that there is no cancer in her little body! I believe it and pray for it everyday in Jesus name. I believe in a God that can heal Addi completely!
Stem Cell Transplant admission is set for January 31. She has lots of tests and appointments again next week getting her prepared….and getting us prepared. I took a medical leave of absence for two months when she was first diagnosed then went back to work but was still out a good bit when she was in the hospital or had appointments. I am on FMLA this time and will be out of work while she is in the hospital for 6-8 weeks or ever how long it takes. Alexis and I will be living at the hospital for the next two months so we are also preparing for this long two months coming up. Alexis quit her job to help me when I was working and when she was in the hospital for stem cell transplant. I truly don’t know what I would do if I did not have Alexis to help me. We are a team and I am so thankful for this blessing God gave me 21 years ago!
Addi has been feeling great this week. No vomiting or nausea since Monday and she is finally eating. Her energy level has returned and she is acting like our sweet Addi with lots of smiles, laughter, playing and talking our heads off! It really makes you appreciate the good days even more when she is running and playing after weeks of being sick. Tuesday after appointments we went to the Georgia Aquarium. She had so much fun. She is fascinated with fish and animals. We plan on having more fun with Addi this weekend while we can.
To see the world through the eyes of a child seeing something for the first time! |
I will post when we get news from the scans. Lots of prayers please as we anxiously await those results. Even if the miracle is not immediate, we know that it is coming one day at a time as he heals her through the knowledge and medicine. There are no words that can express our gratitude for each and every prayer being said for Addi and our family. They are felt and are what gets us through this difficult time.
