Great Weekend

Great Weekend

Great Weekend…….

Post from 5/19/19

What a wonderful, busy weekend we had. Our friend Amber brought her horse to the house so I could finish up Addi’s 3 year photos. We had a great time and I got some perfect shots of our girl. This child has no fear and absolutely loved the horse and just walked up to her like it was nothing. She cried to ride and brush him. She loves animals in general but really connected with the horse. (You will see in the pictures!) I shouldn’t be surprised at how fearless she is, after all if she wasn’t fearless and tough she couldn’t have made it through the past 9 months.
Today marks 9 months since the day Addi was diagnosed. In the picture I posted, she is wearing her beads of courage that she’s collected over the past 9 months. This is something that CHOA does for its patients. Every bead represents something that she has endured… night in the hospital, blood transfusion, shots, ICU, IV’s, chemo, blood draws, etc. As I sat putting every bead on the string I began to cry thinking of all she has went though, then I cried thinking how far she has come and how thankful I am that God spared her life. Yeah she’s been through a lot but look at her. God is good!!! As I sit here waiting for her to start radiation tomorrow, all I can feel is thankful and praising Him although it’s time to start again.
We had a great day Saturday celebrating my awesome nephews Caleb and Ethan at a party as they both graduated from college this past week. We really enjoyed seeing family and friends. Then we headed to SC where Addi led the survivors lap for Seneca SC Relay for Life. They gave her a survivors cape and she walked around with her arm out and said she was Superman. It was so cute. It was hot but it was for a great cause. So thankful for my friends at MSA and how they honored Addi through their team.

Today is an extremely special day. A year ago my son Austin married his beautiful bride Marlee. So proud of these two and all they have accomplished in such a short time. Happy 1st Anniversary! We love you!
We have arrived at the Ronald McDonald House and are all settled in. Ready to begin radiation with Addi tomorrow and get this next part of her journey over. She’s doing really well so we know she’s going to do amazing just like she has with everything else she’s endured. She’s one tough baby girl. So thankful for good days and spending time with family and friends. We ask that you continue to pray for Addi that the radiation does not affect her liver and that she has minimal side effects. Thank you to every person who emailed me food gift cards and Uber gift cards to help during this long stay away from home. Addi and I thank you so much! You guys are such a blessing.
Side note….no worries about the horse. He was being held by reins and someone was right beside Addi the entire time. The perks of Photoshop…Reins and people gone! Although the horse never moved. She was perfect and very tame and gentle.

Will update when I can tomorrow.
